The Table Ministry
You were not meant to do this alone. And now you do not have to.
The Table is the pastoral care and discipleship rhythm of The Gathering. Every covenant partner belongs to one, so that no partner is unknown, unprayed for, or unaccounted for. It is not a program. It is a promise kept.
I · The Promise We Made
In Belong and Become, we made a promise to every person who said yes to partnership with The Gathering. We told them they would be known. They would be cared for. They would not fall through the cracks of a growing church.
The Table is how we keep that word. It is not a program. It is a promise kept.
Acts 2:42, 44 to 45
"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers... And all who believed were together and had all things in common."

ESVII · Why Proximity Matters
You cannot disciple someone you are not close to. That is not a preference. It is how Jesus did it. He did not send a curriculum ahead of Him and check in periodically. He walked with people. He ate with them. He was present in the ordinary moments, not just the significant ones.
When people sit at the same table week after week, something happens that no program can produce. They start to actually know each other. They stop performing. They begin to carry each other. They pray with real information about real lives. That is the body of Christ functioning the way God designed it.
Luke 8:1
"Soon afterward he went on through cities and villages... And the twelve were with him."
ESVThe twelve were with him. Not enrolled in a program. Not attending a weekly session. With him. That is the model.
III · What The Table Is
The Table is the pastoral care and discipleship structure of The Gathering. Every covenant partner belongs to one. It is how this church ensures that no partner is unknown, unprayed for, or unaccounted for.
But The Table is more than a care structure. It is the primary environment where disciples are made. Week to week, around a meal, an open Bible, and worship, partners are being formed into the image of Christ. And as they are formed, they learn to form others.
Matthew 28:19 to 20
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

The New Testament is full of commands that cannot be obeyed alone. They are not tips for a nicer church culture. They are commands, and not one of them can be done from a distance or in a crowd. They need a room small enough for people to actually know each other. The Table is that room. This is the everyday work of the Table. Not performed. Practiced.
V · How The Table Gathers
The Table is a gathering in the fullest sense. The format is relational, not formal. There is no agenda that turns fellowship into a meeting. Each Table is led by a Table Host, a trusted leader who shepherds a small group of partners, gathers with them regularly, and carries them between those gatherings. Where a Table meets in a home, the person who opens that home is the host.
Hebrews 10:24 to 25
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together... but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
ESVNot how long it ran or how deep the discussion went. Whether people left more known than when they arrived.
VI · Who Belongs
Every covenant partner at The Gathering belongs to a Table. That is the baseline expectation of what partnership means here. It is not a program to opt into. It is the shape of what it means to be family here.
Non-partners are welcome to attend Table gatherings. The Table Host welcomes anyone. But the Table exists first to account for and care for partners. No partner is without one.
Placement. Partners have the opportunity to sign up for a Table. Anyone who does not sign up will be placed. Placement is thoughtful: geography, life stage, existing relationships, and spiritual maturity all factor in. The goal is proximity that can actually become relationship. Partners completing Belong and Become are placed promptly. The promise made in that room is fulfilled the moment they are placed.

ESVVII · Meeting Needs
When something surfaces in a partner's life, the Table responds first. Practical needs. Spiritual needs. Crisis. Whatever comes up belongs to the Table before it belongs anywhere else.
This is not a policy. It is proximity at work. When you are close enough to people, you know the need before it becomes a crisis. When a need is beyond what the Table can meet, the Table Host carries it up. The partner does not have to navigate the structure. The need moves up. The partner stays covered.
Acts 4:34 to 35
"There was not a needy person among them... and it was distributed to each as any had need."
ESVVIII · The Table and Circles
The Gathering values people gathering together, and that conviction takes more than one shape. The Table is the structured, covenant anchored expression of it: a defined group of partners with a shepherd, a rhythm, a pastoral care layer, and a discipleship purpose. This is the promise made to every partner.
Circles are another expression of the same heart. A women's group. A men's group. A life stage gathering. A Bible study. Open to anyone, built around a shared interest or a season of life. A partner may be part of both, and many will be. One does not replace the other. The Table keeps the promise to partners. Circles open the door to everyone.
Community is not optional here. It is who we are.
IX · Oversight
The Table operates under pastoral oversight. Table Hosts carry their people and bring needs and concerns to the Oversight Leaders. The Oversight Leaders carry the full pastoral picture of the ministry and bring it to the pastor.
Oversight is not management. It is pastoral. The Oversight Leaders shepherd the Table Hosts the same way Table Hosts shepherd their partners. The same proximity that makes The Table work is the same proximity that makes oversight work.
1 Peter 5:2 to 3
"Shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight... not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock."
ESVX · The Heartbeat
The Gathering is not a church where people slip in and slip out. We are a covenant family. When you say yes to partnership here, we say yes back. We say yes to knowing you, to being near you, to praying for you with real information about your real life, to meeting the need when it surfaces, to walking with you until you are walking with others.
That last part is the point. Cared for people become people who care. Known people become people who know others. Disciples become the ones making disciples. The proximity you receive at the Table is the same proximity you learn to give.
2 Timothy 2:2
"And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others also."
ESVFour generations in one verse. Paul, to Timothy, to faithful people, to others. That is the Table vision.
The Table is how we keep our word. And how we multiply it. You belong here. This is your Table.
