What We Believe

What does The Gathering believe?

We are a non denominational church that holds to the historic Christian faith. We are Trinitarian, Word anchored, and Spirit led.

We believe the gospel of Jesus Christ, that God saves sinners by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, and that the Bible is the true and authoritative Word of God.

Key Scripture

"For in him the whole fullness of deity dwells bodily."

Colossians 2:9

What We Believe

How do I become a Christian?

You come to Jesus and He makes you new. Salvation is not something you earn by cleaning yourself up first. It is a gift.

You turn from sin, you trust that Jesus died and rose for you, and you receive Him as Lord. The moment you do, you are forgiven, made alive, and given a new identity as a child of God. If you want to take that step, come talk with us any Sunday.

Key Scripture

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast."

Ephesians 2:8 to 9

What We Believe

Are you part of a denomination?

No. We are an independent, non denominational, elder led church. We are not against denominations; we simply hold to the historic Christian faith and preach the Bible without a denominational label.

Our doctrine is grounded in Scripture and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Our Roots

Independent Elder led Non denominational

What We Believe

What do non denominational churches believe?

Beliefs vary from church to church, since a non denominational church is not tied to a single denominational statement. Non denominational does not mean no doctrine.

At The Gathering CTX we hold to the historic Christian faith: one God in three persons, the full deity and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ, salvation by grace alone through faith alone in Christ alone, the Bible as the inspired and authoritative Word of God, and the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit in the church today. We are anchored in Scripture and centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Key Scripture

"There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call, one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all."

Ephesians 4:4 to 6

What We Believe

Are non denominational churches Protestant, and do they baptize?

Most non denominational churches, including The Gathering CTX, stand in the historic Protestant stream: Scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone, to the glory of God alone.

And yes, we baptize. We practice believers baptism by immersion for anyone who has trusted Christ, a public picture of a life that now belongs to Jesus.

Key Scripture

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God."

Ephesians 2:8

What We Believe

Are the gifts of the Spirit for today?

Yes. We are continuationist, which means we believe all the gifts of the Holy Spirit are active in the church today. They are meant to build up the body, and they are always exercised under the authority of the Word and in the order Scripture gives.

Freedom in the Spirit and order in the Word belong together.

Key Scripture

"For God is not a God of confusion but of peace."

1 Corinthians 14:33

What We Believe

What is your view of the Bible?

The Bible is the inspired, true, and authoritative Word of God. We preach it verse by verse so that people hear what God actually said, not just our opinions about it.

Key Scripture

"All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness."

2 Timothy 3:16

What We Believe

What do you believe about marriage?

We believe marriage is the covenant union of one man and one woman, established by God in creation and affirmed by Jesus. That is not ours to redefine.

Every person is made in the image of God, loved by God, and welcome at The Gathering. But welcome is not the same as approval. We will love you, and we will not call sin something other than what God calls it. Grace is not the absence of truth, and truth is not the absence of grace. Come as you are, and let Jesus lead you where He wants you to go.

Key Scripture

"Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh."

Genesis 2:24

Kids

Do you have a ministry for my kids, and is it safe?

Yes. Our Kids Zone is a fun, Bible centered place for children during the service. Safety comes first.

We use a secure check in and check out process, and every volunteer who serves with children is background checked. You can worship with confidence knowing your kids are cared for and loved.

The Table

How often do you take communion?

Communion is available every week, and we also take it together as a church whenever the time is right. The Lord's Supper is for followers of Jesus, and it is a moment to remember His body broken and His blood shed for us.

If you are trusting Christ, the table is for you.

Key Scripture

"For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes."

1 Corinthians 11:26

The Table

How do I get baptized?

We practice believers baptism by immersion, a public picture of a life that now belongs to Jesus. We hold baptism on scheduled baptism days through the year.

If you have trusted Christ and want to be baptized, let us know and we will get you signed up for the next one.

Key Scripture

"We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life."

Romans 6:4

Vision

What is the vision of The Gathering?

We are a place to belong and become. Our motto is walk with victory, not to it. We exist to make disciples who are formed by the Word, led by the Spirit, and walking in the victory Christ has already won.

We do that through four convictions: proclaim Christ fearlessly, make disciples and not just converts, build real community like a family and not a crowd, and send equipped witnesses into every sphere of life.

Next Steps

How do I get connected or become a partner?

The best first step is simply to come on a Sunday and say hello. From there, our Belong and Become path helps you find your place, and the Table is our life on life discipleship rhythm where no one falls through the cracks.

We call our committed members partners, because following Jesus together is a shared work, not a spectator sport.
